Description
The Benefits Administrator serves as the dedicated onsite expert and primary day-to-day anchor for the organization's self-funded Healthcare plan. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, this highly collaborative role acts as the vital, empathetic liaison connecting staff with the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) vendors, and all critical components of the healthcare ecosystem. Working closely with the Compensation and Benefits Specialist, the Administrator manages the continuous flow and auditing of eligibility data using Google Workspace, while actively monitoring claims utilization to ensure plan benefits are used accurately and cost-effectively. As a fierce advocate for both the employee and the organization, the position balances strict compliance oversight—ensuring adherence to HIPAA privacy standards and driving key annual ERISA and ACA filings. The Benefits Administrator champions healthcare literacy across the workforce while meticulously maintaining the operational integrity of this vital corporate asset. This position is responsible for playing their part to achieve the bigger mission of East-West and for ensuring that all Human Resources activities are clearly aligned with East-West Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and Biblical principles.
As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in Biblical principles, the Benefits Coordinator will actively minister to EW leadership, staff, partners and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ-character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan Operations & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary onsite contact and daily operational anchor for the organization’s self-funded healthcare plan.
- Act as the vital liaison between staff, the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) vendors, and other external plan partners.
- Actively monitor claims utilization data to ensure plan benefits are being used accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Data Integrity & HR Collaboration
- Manage the continuous data flow and auditing of benefits eligibility records
- Collaborate closely with the Comp and Benefits Specialist to ensure seamless cross-departmental HR workflows and a unified employee benefits experience.
- Compliance, Advocacy & Privacy Oversight
- Maintain strict regulatory oversight of the healthcare plan, ensuring absolute adherence to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Drive the preparation and execution of critical annual compliance requirements, including ERISA framework guidelines and ACA employer filings.
- Act as a trusted advocate for both employee care and the financial interests of the organization.
- Healthcare Literacy & Employee Education
- Promote healthcare literacy across the organization through proactive communication and ongoing employee education.
- Provide dedicated, empathetic guidance to staff members navigating the complexities of the self-funded healthcare ecosystem.
Requirement
- Experience with Christian Healthcare Ministries or other health sharing organizations, highly preferred
- Experience with basic accounting principles, highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, highly preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in HR or benefits administration (group health plans preferred)
- 1–3 years of ministry or nonprofit experience, preferred
- Basic familiarity with ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA compliance frameworks
- Basic familiarity with medical coding
- Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
