World Gospel Outreach is looking for the right person to join our team as a nurse at our Mission House in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Mission House (MH) Nurse will be responsible for overseeing the medical needs of the serve teams’ members. They will ensure the health and safety of serve teams, staff members and volunteers at the Mission House. They will tend and treat any non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. The MH Nurse will work in tandem with Rancho Ebenezer’s nurse(s) as needed to assist in any medical needs. They will also ensure that all necessary medical supplies are kept stocked, organized and up to date, working with Honduran doctors to establish prescription protocol. 

The essential requirements and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

Essential/Key Responsibilities include: 

  •   Manage  all  the  medical  operations  and  needs  at  medical  sites,  including  the  training  and  collaboration  with medical serve teams 
  •   Provide medical consultations and work with local doctors to establish protocol for prescriptions 
  •   Tend to the medical needs of missionaries, serve teams, staff members and volunteers 
  •   Keep inventory of all medical supplies and maintain online lists for needs 
  •   Fulfill requested medication and prescription for missionaries, serve team members and volunteers 
  •   Be  available  outside  of  regular  working  hours  for  emergencies,  both  at  the  Mission  House  as  well  as  Rancho Ebenezer 
  •   Inform the Mission House director of any hazardous situations or possibly contagious illnesses 
  •   Maintain status as a full-time fundraising missionary 
  •   Gather  the  needed  documentation  from  North  American  team  members  who  are  health  professionals (doctors,  dentists,  nurses,  etc)  to  create  and  present  the  authorization  forms  to  the  respective  honduran authorities so that they will be allowed to practice during their time of serving in Honduras. 
  •   Pursue personal spiritual growth 

Requirement

Required Skills/Abilities include: 

  •   Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ 
  •   Bi-lingual, being fluent in both Spanish and English, or willing to learn 
  •   Good communication skills, with peers, coworkers, supervisors, doctors, etc. 
  •   Understanding of cultural differences and issues that may arise 
  •   Good organizational skills to be used for documentation and record keeping 
  •   Ability to make decisions quickly in the event of an emergency 
  •   Able to work well under pressure 

 

Education, Experience & Other 

  •   Be a U.S. citizen 
  •   Nursing degree 
  •   Valid nursing license 
  •   Prior experience working in the medical field
