The Program Specialist administers all aspects of the Mission: Dignity program in accordance with guidelines determined by program trustees. The Program Specialist will serve Mission:Dignity recipients through the administration of all aspects of the Mission:Dignity program in accordance with guidelines determined by program trustees. Key components of this role will be intake, assessment, and approval or further review of new applications, care for current Mission:Dignity recipients, execution of daily processes to ensure proper care for recipients is accomplished, proactive outreach to recipients to determine needs, and assistance with recipient identification and recruitment.
What will you do:
Analyze, manage and authenticate payment requests to generate checks from expense grants for payment of bills or reimbursements to recipients from Mission: Dignity program and available state convention assistance.
Independently process applications for assistance including evaluating information on the application, making needed contact with the applicant, determining whether applicant is qualified and eligible grant type.
Set up Relief system records for qualified applicants to generate monthly checks or make expense grant amounts available and communicate approval to recipient.
Communicate with program recipients via phone and mail.
Be an advocate for program recipients and their family members concerning public assistance benefits in order to effectively coordinate their Mission: Dignity grants with other assistance.
Work with Finance & Accounting department to reconcile stale-dated, lost or misdirected checks.
Assist in the preparation of materials for trustee meetings, annual appeals and special events.
Assist in the management and processing of the PEX Card program for expense grant recipients
Develop potential recipient identification strategies and goals in conjunction with program leadership
Participate on project groups as needed.
Provide assistance to other Department of Financial Assistance staff with processing of financial donations, as needed.
Communicate with and assist program donors, as needed.
Coordinate with Insurance department to distribute assistance to Insurance Assistance recipients
Coordinate with IT and management in the preparation and processing of the annual Christmas check disbursement
Other duties may be assigned.
Overtime as required.
What you will do:
Bachelors Degree, preferred.
Proficient knowledge of GuideStone systems and functions.
Basic Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to understand and interpret established guidelines for administration of Mission: Dignity program.
Ability to learn system requirements needed to update and maintain recipient records.
Ability to correctly interpret government and other public assistance programs to determine coordination of recipient’s program benefit.
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in both team and self-directed environments.
Ability to manage multiple projects and set required priorities in order to maximize efficiency.
Ability to maintain positive personal relationships with both internal and external personnel in a broad range of situations.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism while interacting with all levels of employees and constituents.
Filing and organizational skills.
Knowledge of basic accounting functions and record-keeping skills
Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
